Commissaries feature May specials

FORT LEE, Va. – Commissaries are collaborating with DeCA’s vendors, suppliers and brokers to offer customers discounts beyond everyday savings throughout the month of May. Check with your local commissary for details on dates and times for the following sales (overseas stores may have substitute events for certain promotional programs):

  • "Cinco de Mayo – Create a Fiesta Tonight" (April 24 - May 7) – ConAgra Foods and Mission Foods are displaying their products together giving shoppers a convenient Cinco de Mayo meal solution center featuring recipes and coupons.
  • "Win a Family 4th of July in Washington DC" (throughout May) – Stateside commissary shoppers can enter this sweepstakes to win a grand prize trip for four to Washington, D.C., that includes round-trip airfare, four nights in a hotel and tickets to the July 2 Washington Nationals baseball game. You’ll be automatically entered when you purchase four Kellogg’s participating brands and use your Commissary Rewards Card at the checkout.
  • "Honoring Our Heroes" essay contest is a way shoppers can honor their military heroes or military spouses. To enter, go to and submit a 200-word essay on why your military hero or spouse deserves to be honored. Each entrant will get a free, commissary-only Gatorade product coupon and a coupon organizer.
  • "Celebrating our Heroes Sale" (May 8-June 4) – Commissary customers will find high-value coupon flyers distributed worldwide by Acosta Military. Partial sales proceeds go to support the Fisher House Program. Fisher House is "a home away from home" for families of patients receiving medical care at major military and Veterans Affairs medical centers.

About DeCA: The Defense Commissary Agency operates a worldwide chain of commissaries providing groceries to military personnel, retirees and their families in a safe and secure shopping environment. Commissaries provide a military benefit and make no profit on the sale of merchandise. Authorized patrons save thousands of dollars annually on their purchases compared to commercial prices when shopping regularly at a commissary. The discounted prices include a 5-percent surcharge, which covers the costs of building new commissaries and modernizing existing ones. A core military family support element, and a valued part of military pay and benefits, commissaries contribute to family readiness, enhance the quality of life for America's military and their families, and help recruit and retain the best and brightest men and women to serve their country.
