Commissaries began scanning customers Department of Defense ID cards at checkouts. By scanning the ID at checkout, DeCA will no longer need to maintain any personal information on customers in its computer systems, such as the system used for customers who write checks. Cross-referenced with other DOD data, the scan data will give DeCA useful information about patron usage, by military service, along with customer demographics that does not identify specific personal data of an individual. This will eventually help the agency identify shopping needs and preferences information that is essential in todays retail business environment. It will also allow more accurate reporting to the military services on commissary usage. DeCA will not be using any personal information such as names, addresses or phone numbers. Buy Club Packs for Large Items at Large Savings...

Commissary shoppers are discovering the benefits of "club packs" in increasing numbers. Commissaries began selling popular products in bulk three years ago, and sales have gained momentum ever since. Club packs allow customers to stock up on products they need all the time - things like canned goods, paper products, and cleaning supplies - and save money in the process. A majority of commissaries sell at least some of the club packs, even overseas stores; and variety is determined by store size and customer need. Club pack selection includes the most popular products people want to buy with top sellers including water, toilet paper, paper towels, and sanitizing wipes.

Proud, Committed, and More!

Commissary Rewards Cards

Commissary Rewards Card users can now download an Android app to access and clip digital coupons.
Available free from the Google Play Store, the Commissary Rewards Android app joins the previously released iPhone/iPad app, giving commissary shoppers access to their rewards card accounts through a vast array of smart phones and tablets. Now you can look at the available coupons while you are shopping, clip the ones you want, and redeem them when you check out! It's that easy!

Commissaries Recycling

Commissaries collecting, recycling your plastic bags
All stateside commissaries now have plastic bag recycling bins that you can use to recycle any plastic bag, not just commissary bags. Overseas commissaries are not participating in the program because DeCA does not issue recycling contracts overseas. DeCA collects its plastic waste with other recyclable material from the commissaries and ships them to recycling centers for processing. In fiscal 2013, DeCA recycled more than 139 million pounds of cardboard, plastic and paper. It has also diverted almost 13 million pounds of food waste, metal and wood from the waste stream, along with recycling 1 million pounds of organic waste.

Natural and manmade disasters can strike anywhere at any time. With the
start of Atlantic hurricane season here in the United States, June 1, the
Defense Commissary Agency is reminding its patrons they can save money by
visiting their local commissary for the items they need in their survival
For more information about preparing for emergencies, visit the following
websites: the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the Centers
for Disease Control, the Red Cross, and the Federal Emergency Management
