New London Commissary will continue to offer savings on sidewalk sales, truckload events and in-store promotions. Stores will also continue to offer items in the value-sized, economical club pack format found in off-base club warehouse stores, said Charlie Dowlen, DeCAs promotions manager.

Customers will still have the chance to save money through the other sales," Dowlen said. They can save up to 30 to 40 percent on items in the regular promotional packages and up to 30 percent on club packs.

Customers should check with their local commissary to get information about upcoming sales. Customers can visit commissaries.com, click on the Locations tab on the home page, then Alphabetical Listing, find your local store, and then click on Local Store Information. They can also click on the Shopping tab on the home page to access promotional prices.

Six ways to extend your food budget:
The following are six steps service members and their families can follow to extend their grocery budgets: 1) Shop the commissary: Consistently shopping the commissary provides an average savings of 32 percent over retail grocery store prices. Yearly savings for a family of four average about $4,500; a family of three saves more than $3,500; and a couple saves more than $2,800 and a single service member saves more than $1,500. Please take note of Extra Savings shelf signs. Visit the Savings Aisle at http://www.commissaries.com to view prices and percent savings of specific sale items in the store where you shop. 2) Plan ahead: Meal planning and eating more meals at home help reduce your overall food expenditures. 3) Make a list: A list helps avoid impulse buys. If you find an item on sale that youll use later, feel free to add it. Also, never shop when youre tired or hungry. 4) Read labels and compare prices: When comparing prices of competing brands, compare the number of servings per container. A cheaper price on a larger size is only a savings if you actually use those extra ounces. 5) Do it yourself: The higher price for convenience items reflects the labor required to pre-cook, pre-cut or pre-measure. Substantial savings can be had by making these preparations yourself. 6) Redeem coupons: Coupons and rebate savings can add up fast.

Commissary Rewards Cards now available at all commissaries
The Defense Commissary Agency is proud to announce that the Commissary Rewards Card is now available at all commissaries. The card, a joint effort with grocery industry partners to help customers save even more on their commissary purchases, lets customers access and redeem digital coupons at any of its stores. The cards are easy to use: 1) customers pick up their cards in-store, 2) visit DeCA's website, http://www.commissaries.com, to complete registration and load digital coupons to their account, and 3) when the card is scanned at the register, the coupons are matched to their purchases and automatically deducted from the balance owed. Customers can print a list of their coupons before making the trip to the commissary. New offers will typically be posted online every two to three weeks. For more information on this card, please visit www.commissaries.com/faq and click Commissary Rewards Card. Help is also available through the customer service hotline at 855-829-6219 or through email at commissarysupport@inmar.com.

Some key points about the card are:
"Customers are advised to regularly visit the Commissary Rewards Card site that is linked on the www.commissaries.com website for any new digital coupon updates. At the Commissary Rewards Card site, customers can also sign up to get e mail notifications when new coupons are added.
"Only one Commissary Rewards Card can be used per customer transaction.
"Each digital coupon has terms and limits that are stated by manufacturers. Manufacturers determine the number of coupons they release on the website, and coupon offers are removed once quantities have been clipped or offers have reached their expiration dates.
"There is no extension for overseas digital coupons since customers have the same Internet access available to them regardless of their location.
"DeCAs coupon policy also limits coupons to one per purchase, so these coupons cannot be combined with manufacturer coupons, to include commissary or military paper coupons.
