Special Information

    Do you like to create your own pico de gallo? The produce department has a display to help build your meal for Cinco de Mayo. Come get your tomatoes, onions, avocados, cilantro, lime, and peppers. Grab a fresh pineapple to garnish your pina colada.

    May 9th is Military Spouse day and Shrimp Day, tie the two together and make your spouse a shrimp cocktail.

    Thinking of what to get your mother for Mother’s Day, May 13th, how about a nice bouquet of flowers. The produce department has fresh cut flowers and plants to bring a smile to your mother. While you are at it, make your mother an apple pie since it is also Apple Pie Day. Remember you can special order fresh fruit and veggie trays from our produce department (please give 24 hour notice for trays.) If you do not like pie how about making a cobbler. They are very delicious and May 17th is cherry Cobbler Day.

     Planning your Memorial Day weekend, swing by the commissary and pick up some baby back ribs, chicken, hamburger, hotdogs, barbeque sauce, matches, lighter fluid, charcoal, paper plates, cups, plastic ware, baked beans, pasta salad, potato salad, cupcakes, and ice-cream cake for dessert. Better yet make yourself a brisket for Memorial Day because it falls on Brisket Day. You can order a whole pig to roast from the meat department if you are considering entertaining a large crowd, our butchers are available to custom cut your meat orders. Graduation parties are on the way, order your cake, and meat and cheese trays from the Bakery/De

     For all you boaters and fishers out there, MREs are great to use if you are going to spend long days out at the lake. Better yet, if you and your family are the camping type, pick up some MREs to store in your campers.

If you are looking to make a dessert but still get your fruit servings in for the day try this Fruit Pizza recipe.

1 pkg. Pillsbury sugar cookies (keep cool)

1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese

8 oz. Cool Whip

1/2 t. vanilla

1/2 c. sugar

1 lg. can crushed pineapple, drained

2-3 bananas, sliced strawberries, shredded coconut, and other assorted sliced fruit.

Cookie Dough: Slice cookie dough 1/8-1/4 inch think and place on a greased pizza pan close together. Bake according to directions on package. Let the giant cookie cool.

Spread: Beat cream cheese, cool whip, vanilla, and sugar until smooth and spread over cooled cookie.

Top Layer: Place sliced bananas into a bowl and drain the pineapple juice on top of the bananas. This is to help prevent browning of the bananas.

Layer pineapple, bananas, strawberries and other fruit on the filling. Top with the shredded coconut and refrigerate until ready to serve.
