EFFECTIVE AUGUST 18TH, 2021 - In accordance with JBLM BLUE HASH guidance, "all personnel (vaccinated and unvaccinated) will wear a mask [properly over nose & mouth] in all indoor facilities on JBLM..."
JBLM Commissaries are Limited to 50% Occupancy and have Implemented hand sanitizer use prior to entry.
EFFECTIVE AUGUST 2ND, 2021 - In accordance with updated guidance released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on “Interim Public Health Recommendations for Fully Vaccinated People,” issued on 27 JUL 21, DoD has rescinded the Deputy SECDEF Memo: Subject “Updated Mask Guidelines for Vaccinated Persons,” dtd 13 MAY 21, that no longer required vaccinated persons on DoD installations and Facilities to wear masks. Based on updated CDC guidance, in areas of substantial or high community transmission, DoD now requires all Service members, Federal employees, onsite contractor employees, and visitors, regardless of vaccination status.
JBLM is assessed to be a substantial transmission rate area at ~75 cases (SM and beneficiaries) per 100K over the last 7 days. The JBLM population is ~71% vaccinated, and our surrounding counties average ~46% vaccinated. Service members, Families, retirees, DA Employees and contractors who reside in or transit thru our surrounding counties and work on, or frequent JBLM should be advised that the Delta variant is more transmissible, and increases the risk to the unvaccinated population.

'PRICING PRACTICES' AT THE Lewis Main COMMISSARY:
The Commissary is an Appropriated Funds facility; it is a not-for-profit entity unlike retailers outside the gate or even the Exchange. Goods are procured and purchased by the Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) with DOD Appropriated Funds for resale to patrons.
While our customers can be assured that they are provided with the best overall prices in their shopping trips to our commissaries, when it comes to individual items each retailer may have a different cost from their suppliers. If we find that our cost does not allow us to be priced as competitively as we should be, or provide the savings we are committed to provide, our category teams will work diligently with our suppliers to negotiate the best cost possible. This might include running great promotions with deeply discounted prices. However, from time to time we may need to be priced slightly higher than a commercial store. At DeCA we are committed to provide the best overall savings to our customers that we can!
Patrons purchase products at cost + surcharge. Price changes are processed twice a month, on the 1st and 16th of each month. Surcharge is applied to the total value of each commissary purchase because the Congress has mandated collection of surcharge (currently 5 percent) to pay for commissary construction, equipment and maintenance. All surcharge dollars collected are returned to commissary patrons in the form of continually improved commissary facilities. The amount of surcharge applied to a commissary sale transaction is shown as "SCG" on your sales receipt.
"COVID-19 is a new disease and there is limited information regarding risk factors for severe disease. Based on currently available information and clinical expertise, older adults and people of any age who have serious underlying medical conditions might be at higher risk for severe illness from COVID-19. Based upon available information to date, those at high-risk for severe illness from COVID-19 include:
- People aged 65 years and older
- People who live in a nursing home or long-term care facility
- Other high-risk conditions could include:
- People with chronic lung disease or moderate to severe asthma
- People who have serious heart conditions
- People who are immunocompromised including cancer treatment
- People of any age with severe obesity (body mass index [BMI] >40) or certain underlying medical conditions, particularly if not well controlled, such as those with diabetes, renal failure, or liver disease might also be at risk
- People who are pregnant should be monitored since they are known to be at risk with severe viral illness, however, to date data on COVID-19 has not shown increased risk
Many conditions can cause a person to be immunocompromised, including cancer treatment, bone marrow or organ transplantation, immune deficiencies, poorly controlled HIV or AIDS, and prolonged use of corticosteroids and other immune weakening medications."
We THANK YOU for your participation & understanding in this effort!
GENERAL PRODUCT AVAILABILITY:
The commissary orders 'high demand' products every day; however, there are many variables that effect their availability, or lack thereof. Some items such as bleach, hand sanitizer and spray disinfectant are subject to the prioritization of our crucial Health Care services. Other items such as toilet paper, water and meat are effected by trending shopping practices such as 'hoarding'.
Please know that from a product availability standpoint, we’re continuing to work with industry suppliers and are GIVING OUR ALL to accommodate patron shopping needs. We are doing our 'all-consuming' best to keep the shelves stocked. As such, we will not respond to calls & e-mails in regard to 'high demand' stock levels and availability of product inquiries. Product is stocked throughout our hours of operation and as received.
We appreciate your patience as we negotiate this process.
CHECK OUT OUR SEAFOOD OFFERINGS:
We have assorted fish fillets including Cod, Halibut, Salmon as well as other specialty items. Available for purchase and displayed in our Club Pack section.
Your Everyday Savings (YES!)
Look for the orange YES! Program signs throughout the store. We are lowering prices on many of the items you buy most frequently.

Guest Rules
The below policy changes are being implemented in order to prevent ‘exposure’ and ‘community spread’ of COVID-19. These 'best practices' will also aid in alleviating in-store congestion, promote 'social distancing' and help to protect our most ‘at risk’, 'COVID-19 Vulnerable' populations. Additionally, these changes will also allow commissary staff more space and time to re-stock shelves and maintain our facility.
We do apologize for any inconvenience and THANK YOU for your understanding!
-- Effective August 9, 2020, effective immediately, DeCA will join MWR and the Exchanges in allowing guests/visitors in our stores; the Lewis Main Commissary will no longer check ID's at the door.
Patrons are no longer required to wash their hands prior to entering the commissary; hand wash stations have been removed. However they have been replaced with Hand Sanitizer Stations and are strongly encouraged to use them.
-- Effective beginning April 16, 2020 through September 30, 2020, children under the age of 14 are not required to have an ID card to accompany their parents shopping.
-- Effective March 27, 2020, As an additional precaution during the COVID-19 pandemic, the commissary will discontinue the use of reusable shopping bags. This policy update has been implemented with your health and safety in mind and will assist in further limiting the 'community spread' of the coronavirus. However Reusable bags are still available for purchase and can be used during checkout of that visit only.
-- Effective March 19, 2020, the Lewis Main Commissary will eliminate ‘Early Bird’ shopping hours.
-- Effective March 18, 2020, Lewis Main Commissary will begin 100% I.D. card checks at the entrance of the store. Children under 14 with their parents don’t have to have an ID Card.
-- Effective March 18, 2020, the Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) will revoke the Commissary Visitor Policy. Guests/Visitors will no longer be allowed to accompany patrons at the commissary.
-- Effective March 14, 2020, commissary cashiers will no longer handle patron ID cards. Instead, customers will be asked to scan their own ID; cashiers may use the handheld scanner if available.
Due to COVID-19, Please expect longer than normal wait times to enter the store. Please practice Social Distancing by leaving 6 feet between you and the other patrons while in line and shopping in store. Due to unpredictable weather and no cover. Please plan accordingly.
These policy changes are being implemented in order to prevent ‘exposure’ and ‘community spread’ of COVID-19. These best practices will also aid in alleviating in-store congestion, promote 'social distancing' and help to protect our most ‘at risk’ populations. Additionally, they will also allow commissary staff more space and time to re-stock shelves and maintain our facility.
